You mentally run through your to-do list, hoping to get everything done by the time your guests arrive.
House clean? Check.
Dinner in the oven? Check.
Flowers on the table? Check.
Fresh dress and apron? Check.
They pour into your home, laughing loudly and elbowing each other as they bend low to clear the door frame. You’re doing well–things are running smoothly.
Until He says: “You’re missing something.”
You stop in your tracks and do a 360.
“In fact, only one thing is needed,” He says, “and you’re missing it.”
Heat rises to your cheeks and your Martha Stewart-trained eyes sweep the room. Panic floods your heart, and your stomach drops to your feet.
What?! What could possibly be missing?
