The Gospel isn’t just the way you get saved, it’s a way of living life, a call to abandon our efforts to impress God and rest in what Jesus already did. …But you wouldn’t know that from the way we live.
Jesus offers Good News for weary women (that’s you and me!), and this week I’m sharing with you a book that helped me understand just how the Gospel applies to my life today. (If you can’t view the video below, just click here to view it on YouTube.)
In one word, this book is refreshing. Elyse shows how to live out the grace of God in everyday life, from grocery shopping to marriage to parenting to worshiping and serving. I don’t have to try hard to please God because Christ’s righteousness covers me and when God looks at me, He sees the righteousness of Jesus. This truth frees us from trying to keep up with an endless to-do list and live in the freedom of the grace of God to walk in obedience to Him not because we have to, but because we get to.
If you’re exhausted by trying to keep up with the long list of to-do’s, or you feel like your worth is tied up in what you’ve accomplished today, find a copy of Good News for Weary Women: Escaping the Bondage of To-Do Lists, Steps, and Bad Advice.* I found healring and rest in allowing the Good News of Jesus’ finished work on the cross to refresh my soul, and you will too.
God doesn’t judge us by how successful we are with our to-do lists. Instead, He calls us to faith.
~ Elyse Fitzpatrick, Good News for Weary Women
