Friday Worship: Worthy is the Lamb

My voice was drowned by the thunderous roar of thousands of people filling the Q-Arena with praise. They were on their feet, hands raised to the rafters, voices singing at the top of their lungs the lyrics of the song: “And I hear the voice of all the angels sing: ‘Worthy is the Lamb!'”

worship worthy is the lambIn that moment, I was overwhelmed by the vision of millions of awed angels standing before the throne of Jesus giving Him the praise He deserves:

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:

Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”

13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”

14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.

~ Revelation 5

Don’t gloss over that text. It’s earth-shattering. Go back and read it again, more slowly. Soak in the reality that this scene is unfolding every moment of every day.

Are you joining in with the angels?

Maybe you’re still in your pj’s, bathrobe held tight for warmth in the morning chill, and you’re reading this wondering what difference your praise makes. Or maybe you’re checking this post while you’re standing in line to pick up your cup o’ java and the only thing on your mind is that you’re going to be late for work. Or perhaps you were just checking your email one more time before going to bed and you don’t want to bother.

Can I encourage you to take the time and worship the Lord right now? Because, sisters, the Lamb of God is worthy. Amen?

We were lost and now we’re found. We were dead and now we’re alive. We we far from God and now we’re His children.

The angels sing–but they long to look into these things. They don’t get it the way we do–they were never sinners to need a Savior. They sing from the conviction of truth. They sing because it’s true.

But you and me? We can sing it because we live it. We know it. We’ve experienced it in our own lives. If anyone should have a 24/7 praise fest, it’s us.

Jesus is worthy to receive ALL of our praise. It’s a privilege for you and me to join the angels in their song that’s going on RIGHT NOW.

Maybe that means pausing while putting on your make up to thank Jesus for His death on the gruesome cross to save a sinner like you and me. Maybe it’s humming a song of praise as you pick up the toys strewn on the living room floor for the fifth time today. Or maybe it’s clicking through youtube praise songs and singing your heart out when you should probably be brushing your teeth and heading to bed (yeah, that’s me).

This Friday morning, I want to invite you to join me and these worshipers in singing worthy is the Lamb of God to receive all honor, blessing, and honor forever and ever, amen!
