God's got the whole world and He's got you and me.

When You Wonder If God Sees You

I’m at a stage of parenting where we sing lots of kiddy and silly songs, often with Larry but not always. (Brownie points if you get that reference.) Carissa is really into songs that make animal sounds and have lots of motions, particularly if she gets to make fishy lips.

So today’s featured hymn is less than impressive, but I assure you it has good theology, and even hand motions to help us remember the Truth.

You see, the song I’ve been singing lately is this gem:

He’s got the whole world in His hands
He’s got you and me brother
He’s got you and me sister
He’s got the little itty baby
He’s the wind and the rain
He’s got the whole world in His hands

You might see why this is a fun song for kids. But the truth it hides in its simple lyrics is this: God is big enough to handle all of the big scary problems of the world and He’s close enough to care about all the little intimate details of our lives.

Ezra says it this way:

For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
2 Chronicles 16:9

Isn’t that beautiful? God is Lord of the universe, but His presence roams the earth looking for people like you and me who fully trust Him… to strengthen us.

Reach out to Him today. He’s closer than you think.

God's got the whole world and He's got you and me.
